I've been thinking about success a lot recently. Traditionally, success is defined as having fame, wealth, and the likes. Things that others covet. And while that may be true for materialistic success, I don't think that translates well to other areas of life.
One of my favorite blog posts outlines the qualities found in startup founders who have created a fourishing business, but since this is in the context of business, it fits well into financial success, but is still a bit oblong with regards to other areas of life, like relationships or self actualization and happiness.
I came up with two definitions that may be able to encompass those. The first is "the completion of a goal or task" which, while cut and dried, is factually correct. The other is "a satisfactory journey for the individual" meaning that success is not an action or a state of being, but more of a way of life.
Of course, I could be conflating fulfillment with success, in which case, I wonder if people would be better served seeking fulfillment rather than success?
