I've noticed people have a difficult time forgiving themselves. I can understand that they don't want to fall down the path of laziness because they forgive themselves of every little thing and therefore slack, but on the flip side people tend to be far too harsh on themselves and do not allow themselves to make mistakes or even recognize that they have flaws. They do this because it's safe and they don't have to feel pain or face the reality that they make mistakes, which is okay, by the way. It's not an easy thing to recognize our flaws.
Nevertheless, it's still detrimental in the long run because it's the issue of running from problems rather than facing them and dealing with them when they arise. Like everything, it takes time and practice.
