Unfortunately, I still need JS for some things to work properly. You're welcome to keep it disabled, but the onus is on you if some things don't work (I promise I'll get around to fixing it)...

Climbing Wall

mixed

This is a portable climbing wall intended for the climbing gym that would have been able to be taken to events such as farmers markets or company team builders.

I started by designing the whole thing in autodesk inventor

I then generated a bill of materials and purchased the items and tools needed. I also rented a storage unit to store everything as I was operating out of an apartment.

I drilled sets of two holes spaced roughly 8 inches apart from each other, one hole would be for mounting the holds, while the other would be for the light. The wood boards were 3 3/4in 4x8 plywood sheets bringing the wall to 8ft wide by 12ft tall. The back frame was originally 2x4's, but then was upgraded to 1in steel pipes (initially I used black steel, but after learning that they rust easy, I switched to galvanized steel pipes)

After getting the supports put together and the holes drilled, I got the t-nuts installed, though I ran into issues with bolts sticking and ruining the nut.

After the main hardware was done, I began putting together the lights which were controlled by a raspberry pi zero W. The lights are WS2812 12V meant for running off a car battery in order to be completely portable. I used a buck converter to make a 5V line for the pi. I then created a webapp to control the lights (you can try it out here, it was based on the original version for my university senior design project)

The distance between the lights was about 3 inches, which was too short, so I spent far too long cutting each light apart, and extending the wires so they would reach the holes.

While the gym and original designs ended up not working out, I was able to put about half the wall into my basement and install the lights, I made the webapp available on the local network, so it's easy to run from any device.
